The MacPhersons Project (MRP) tenements encompass the Hampton ultramafic sequence on the southern limb of the Tindals anticline and is bound by the Lindsays Basalt to the West and Gleesons Basalt to the East. The Hampton Ultramafic sequence hosts several historic mines including Surprise, Barbara, Shirl , 28 Pit, Noble 5 (SBS Group –Northern Star). The main MacPhersons Reward and A-Cap deposits are hosted within an intrusive Tonalite along the western Mafic-Ultramafic contact.
A reported 60k ounces at a grade of 2.94g/t was mined between 1897-1989 from the relatively shallow open pitand historic shafts at MacPhersons Reward which includes several smaller high-grade lodes within the host intrusive tonalite. Limited records exist from mining. Since 1989 the ground has undergone several phases of exploration by smaller companies, mostly targeting MacPhersons Reward, Tycho, Pumphreys and historic prospects of Franks Find and Bakers Find. Several gold in soil anomalies and historic prospects such as Queenslander, Quartzite, Carn Brea and Creswick have had limited to no modern exploration conducted.
Exploration at MacPhersons Project commenced in early 2022 with regional field mapping and desktop studies prior to the first drilling campaign. Several new and historic targets have now been generated, prioritised and scheduled for drilling in FY2022 and beyond. Beacon looks forward to realising the underestimated potential of the MacPhersons Project.
